-
There is only One God, whom our scriptures describe as the Brahman or Paramaatman (the Supersoul), who is formless, limitless, all-pervasive, and eternal, with no beginning nor end. Brahman is not an abstract concept; it is a real entity that encompasses everything (seen and unseen) in the universe. Hindu scriptures describe God as Sachhidananda, a composite of Truth, Conscience, and Bliss.
-
Truth, Non-Violence, and Love are the Tenets, Pillars and Foundations of the Sanatan Dharma.
-
The numerous deities Hindus worship are different Manifestations, representing different Aspects and Characteristics of the same God.
-
We believe in individual Atman (Soul), which just like the Paramaatman, is neither created nor destroyed; it has been, it is, and will continue to be.
-
The Atman constantly strives to become one with the Paramaatma, failing which it will be reborn as one of the 8.4 million species of life.
-
If Atman succeeds in reuniting with the Paramaatman, it is called Moksha, which is a total liberation from the cycles of birth & death.
-
The actions(Karma) of the current body where the Atman resides will have the direct consequences on the future body of the next life surrounding the same Atman..
-
The process of movement of the atman from one body to another is known as transmigration. The kind of body the soul inhabits in the next life is determined by Karma (the cumulative actions of previous lives).
